What is Illinois Design Challenge (IDC) 2025?
IDC is a 3-day product design competition where students solve a real-world challenge using engineering, creativity, and CAD.
Who can participate in IDC?
IDC is open to all students at the University of Illinois, regardless of major or year. Whether you're an engineer, designer, or problem-solver from any discipline, you're welcome to join.
Can I participate solo, or do I need a team?
You're welcome to register solo! If you don’t have a team yet, we’ll help match you with other participants based on your interests and strengths before the event begins. A team can consist of up to 4 members!
Are there any prizes for winners?
Yes! Cash prizes will be awarded to top-performing teams based on creativity, technical execution, impact, and presentation. Additional incentives will also be available through speaker sessions and other event activities. Check our Instagram for more information on prizes!
Where is IDC being held?
At the Campus Instructional Facility (CIF), UIUC. Room details are available on our website.
Will food be provided during the event?
Yes — meals, snacks and drinks will be provided at in-person events!
How will we get updates during the event?
All updates will be posted on our event Slack workspace. Link to join slack will be shared after you register!
